Family Occasions Marking the key events on Life’s Journey

St John’s has been the focal point for family celebrations for generations, from celebrating new arrivals through Christenings (Also called Baptisms) through Marriages to the point of final farewell at Funeral and memorial services, we are here to journey with you at each stage of life.

Christenings

We enjoy welcoming families from the wider Parish and those with longstanding connections to Christening services.  We book all our Christenings at a special session in our Church Hall on the first Sunday of the month at 11:30. This session which lasts about half an hour, during this time we try and answer and questions you may have, complete all the relevant paperwork and give you the opportunity to meet some of the tea.

Christenings happen on a Sunday morning either as part of our main worship at 10am or at a separate service at 11:45am.  Whatever you choose there is no charge for the service.

Weddings and Wedding Blessings

Celebrate your big day with us, our flexible space means we can seat up to about 120 guests but still feel friendly and intimate. We can match flowers to your colour scheme and our hall can be available too.  We can accommodate your music choices, either with our beautiful organ or by playing prerecorded music.

The grounds are perfect for photographs too, but perhaps we're biased?

Fees are linked to those set by the Church of England.

Why not mark a significant anniversary by renewing your vows in Church? A service specially designed with you both in mind, just the two of you or celebrate with family and friends, just get in touch to find out more.

Funerals and memorial Services

We are sorry for your loss, you can mark your loved ones life with a service at St John's. The minister will work with you every step of the way to make sure your service is right for you. You can have your own music choices or our organist can play for a small fee. We work closely with all our local Funeral Directors to ensure all your needs are met.

Although our Churchyard is closed to new burials we have Garden of Remembrance set aside for the Burial of Ashes. We can also work with you to produce a fitting memorial service for your loved one, where friends and family can gather together to share memories, and celebrate the life of your loved one.
