Special Services

As well as our regular services, we also have a lively calendar of special services.

These include services to celebrate include Holy Days such as Ash Wednesday, and seasonal services such as those around Easter and Christmas.

We also have monthly special childrens' services, and we take part in events such as The World Day of Prayer.

Life Events

St John’s has been the focal point for family celebrations for generations, from celebrating new arrivals through Christenings (Also called Baptisms) through Marriages to the point of final farewell at Funeral and memorial services, we are here to journey with you at each stage of life.

On the first and third Sunday of every month we hold special services for children.

'Little Explorers' is a short service of story telling and singing for the youngest members of our Church family, (typically from birth to school age).

'Brick Church' on the third Sunday is a new interactive way to explore some of the stories in the Bible through play bricks, suitable for all ages.

Community events

From coffee mornings to Remembrance Day, from book group to knit and natter, we have something for everyone

What's on at St John's

St John's has always played an active role in the community life of Killingworth, hosting many events such as Remembrance Day activities, Macmillian Coffee Mornings and musical evenings.

We also take part in wider community events like World Prayer Day, and we have a very active Eco Church planning and campaigning group.

We have links with several local schools and are happy to attend events or assemblies at the schools, and to welcome the pupils here.

You can find out more about what we do by exploring our website, and visiting our full calendar of events.
